The 2024 Toyota Highlander is a three-row SUV. Therefore, it can seat up to eight occupants in a 142 cubic-foot interior. Buyers can also specify an optional captain chair configuration. Here, capacity drops to seven, but the second row gets two individual seats. These seats can be adjusted separately and have armrests. Meanwhile, the 2024 Chevy Blazer is a two-row SUV. Hence, it can only seat five occupants at most. It also doesn’t offer any premium seating configurations for the second row.
The two-row Chevrolet Blazer has 31 cubic feet of cargo capacity. Meanwhile, the 2024 Toyota Highlander has a massive 48 cubic feet when its third row is folded. Deploying the third row still grants you 16 cubic feet, similar to a large sedan’s trunk. Plus, when the second and third rows are folded, you’ve got 84 cubic feet.
Then, the Highlander has a better-equipped cabin. It offers up to 14 cup holders, depending on trim. A spacious glovebox resides ahead of the front passenger seat. There’s a deep center console storage bin, too. Tri-zone automatic climate control is standard across the range. Higher trims include power-adjustable driver and front passenger seats. Meanwhile, an overhead console with sunglasses storage is standard, as is a soft-touch in-dash split-level shelf. Higher trims can be optioned with heated second-row seats and ambient LED lighting. The Blazer doesn’t offer most of these features.
The Highlander and the Blazer come with Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay®. Higher trims of the Blazer also get a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster plus a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. The Blazer only offers a part-digital cluster and a 10.2-inch screen. Plus, the Highlander offers an upgrade to an 11-speaker JBL sound system. Both models also provide Bluetooth® connectivity. A Wi-Fi hotspot is standard for the Highlander but optional for the Blazer. Both models can also be equipped with wireless phone chargers and in-dash navigation.
The 2024 Highlander packs a turbocharged 2.4L, 265 HP engine that makes 310 pound-feet of torque. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. FWD is standard, but AWD is available. The all-wheel-drive system is a dynamic torque vectoring type. It can intelligently monitor individual wheels slipping and reduce the power sent to them. Then, it redirects power to the wheels with the best traction.
The 2024 Chevy Blazer gets a turbocharged 2.0L, 228 HP engine for most trims. Buyers can opt for a 3.6L, 308 HP V6 engine. Either engine connects to a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
The Toyota Highlander range can tow up to 5,000 pounds. All trims also include Trailer Sway Control. Meanwhile, the Chevy Blazer maxes out at 4,500 pounds. Furthermore, Toyota offers a Highlander Hybrid as well. There’s no hybrid choice for Blazer buyers.
The 2024 Toyota Highlander gets the Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5+ suite as standard. Automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection are included. Then, all trims have lane departure warning, lane tracing assist, and road sign assist.
Meanwhile, all trims also have a blind spot monitor. Higher trims bring a 360-degree panoramic view monitor and front plus rear parking assistance. The 2024 Blazer doesn’t offer many of these as standard.
