The Toyota Venza received several updates for the 2023 model year, including the debut of the Nightshade Edition which features darker exterior styling like black door handles, wheels, mirror caps, front and rear bumper accents, and grille surround. The Nightshade Edition is only available on models that have the exterior colors of Ruby Red Flare, Celestial Black, and Wind Chill Pearl. The infotainment system was also updated to include wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, and a 12. digital gauge cluster is now available on the Venza.
The Ford Explorer Hybrid doesn’t have many changes for the 2023 model, but it does update its optional features list and adds the new Red Jewel Metallic paint color to the lineup.
The Toyota Venza is a two-row SUV that can seat up to five passengers. Its comfortable seats come standard with a power-adjustable driver’s seat and cloth upholstery. This SUV provides spacious and supportive seats that are suitable for taller occupants. The interior is paired with a standard 8-inch touchscreen and 7-inch digital gauge cluster and is compatible with other standard features like a Wi-Fi hotspot, five USB ports, wireless device charging, HD Radio, navigation, the “Hey Toyota” virtual assistant, and more. You’ll find that the cargo area is wide enough for groceries and luggage with 28.8 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 55.1 cubic feet of space with the rear seats folded down.
The Ford Explorer Hybrid is a three-row SUV that can seat between six and seven passengers depending on the configuration of its second row. The Explorer Hybrid also has an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system like the Venza, but critics found that the system was difficult to navigate. The Explorer Hybrid also had less cargo space behind its rear and second-row seats than the Venza with 18.2 cubic feet of cargo space and 47.9 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.
The Toyota Venza operates smoothly with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that’s combined with two electric motors generating 219 horsepower and is paired with all-wheel drive and a smooth-shifting continuously variable automatic transmission. The Venza also gets great gas mileage for the hybrid SUV standards and it takes 7.6 seconds to reach 60 mph. You’ll also find that this SUV is composed and stable when making turns and remains comfortable even when driving over bumpy terrain.
The Ford Explorer Hybrid is powered by a 3.3-liter V6 engine and an electric motor that produces a combined 318 horsepower and 322 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard and four-wheel drive is available. The Explorer Hybrid also receives poor estimates for its fuel efficiency, and critics found that this SUV can be jittery on uneven roads.
